Teaching Tools

Practice and hands-on education are critical for preparing health sciences students for work in the field. Since antiquity, students have worked with various types of medical models to study diseases, surgical techniques, and diagnostics, with the earliest models being made of clay. Known as “medical simulation,” these practices are meant to supplement experiences with real patients and refine clinical skills.

While it looks a little different today, students can still check out models and view the model storage room on Level 6 of the McGoogan Library.
