Nursing Doll Collection

The nursing doll collection was developed by Clara Siemsen (1911-2000), a former U.S. Navy nurse and long-time nurse at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. With the use of Vogue doll patterns and some sewing skills, Ms. Siemsen started cataloging the various uniforms of nurses from the schools in Omaha. When alumni from nursing schools across Nebraska heard about the project, they offered their support, producing uniforms from their schools, many of which are now defunct. The completion of the project led to a large collection of dolls that were on display for many years at the Methodist College School of Nursing in Omaha. See highlights from the collection and learn more about this history of nursing in Nebraska through the dolls.
